Meet John Anderson

John Anderson is the candidate who adapts to change to generate revenue and jobs for the betterment of the community and environment.

 

Family Man
John Anderson had humble beginnings being raised in a military family by his parents Gerald
and Patti Anderson. John’s father served our country in the Navy and Air Force for over 20 years while his mom added to their family’s income by owning her beauty salons and selling real estate.

With his dad on active duty, John’s mother had her hands full with 8 children. His parents
believed strongly in the value of hard work and at the age of only 13, John was mowing lawns
and delivering papers. Being one of eight children, John had to work his way through college
and with much dedication, John was the recipient of the very prestigious scholarship, California
State Scholar Award.

In 1970, John was blessed to marry the love of his life, Pam. They have two wonderful children,
Aaron and Nikki. John and Pam have always tried to lead their family by example. Currently,
they find great rewards in volunteering once a month at the MANNA Food Bank, being active in
the Biltmore Church and watching their grandkids play soccer and gymnastics. Their daughter
Nikki and her husband, Dov, live in West Asheville with their three children. Nikki works at the
Asheville Waldorf School as the Bridge Teacher, Outdoor Parent-Child Teacher, Middle School
Fine Arts Teacher, Early Childhood Faculty Chair and the Marketing and Outreach Coordinator.

Environmentalist
In High School, John found his passion for Science. He worked as a lab assistant in his high
school science department and later in college. John served as President of the
Student Chapter of American Chemical Society at California Polytechnic State University (Cal
Poly) and received his Bachelors of Science in Biochemistry from Cal Poly and earned his
Masters of Science in Management from the University of La Verne.

Right out of college, John joined Ocean Labs, a start-up chemical plant, and became
instrumental in the progression Ocean labs had from a pilot plant to fully operational facility.
Because of this great success, Ocean Labs was acquired by Stauffer Chemical Company where John developed several patentable processes that Stauffer deemed to be proprietary.

John had a surprise finding when he was able to prove a Food Chemical Codex standard for
Potassium Alginate incorrect. The FDA changed the standard which resulted in 100,000 pounds
of product to be released for sale all because of John’s findings.

In 1983, John felt the need to serve just as his father did by joining the Department of Defense
working on the Navy’s Energy and Environmental Support Activity. John established a
laboratory to analyze samples for pollutants and became the only Navy lab accredited by
California EPA in quantitative analysis of PCBs. He also reviewed several Navy facilities for
compliance to environmental and water quality procedures and made recommendations for
improvement programs.

John also worked with a national team that developed the implementation of the EPAs Energy, Economy & Environment (E3) that was formed to help revitalize the economy while helping achieve sustainability. 


Business Owner and Leader
John has always had an entrepreneur's heart. Starting in college where he served as treasurer
of the Cal Poly Phi Kappa PSI chapter, his house earned the national award for financial status and procedures after he served as President. John also found great fulfillment serving as a State Assembly member for the YMCA Youth and Government program. He also served on the Student Council while attending college. These experiences helped gain indispensable leadership experience.

John used his experiences to run a Tupperware Franchise with his wife, Pam and quickly made it one of the top profitable businesses/ distributions nationally. John and Pam worked tirelessly to implement procedures that cut weekly fulfillment from four days to only one day. Also seeing the importance of their staff and taking great care of their employees, they were able to create an almost nonexistent turnover rate. Because of this process capability and the workforce stability, John and Pam’s company was able to pack over $5 million of produce annually.

For the last 20 years of John’s career, he put his passion and heart into the California Manufacturing Technology Consulting (CMTC), a public-private partnership. Starting as a field consultant and advancing all the way to Director of Operations. During his tenure, he led a division from $500k to $3.5 million in revenue in just 3 years.  Through training and motivation, his teams of 1/3rd of the workforce accounted for 66% of the revenue. John’s teams generated thousands of retained and created jobs while increasing and retaining sales, and generating cost savings of 10s of billions of dollars; all verified through independent third-party surveys. 

In addition to all the great work John did over his career, he also provided financial coaching to help families keep their homes.
